Rooibos Provence: Zhi’s new tea!

Hello, tea lovers!

Can you feel it?

That sense that something new and amazing is going to come into your life?

A certain whisper of intuition to let your spirit know that a new found joy is on the horizon?

If so, are you ready??

Say ‘yes!’ to our new organic signature: Rooibos Provence.

Smooth, sensual rooibos takes a fruity turn in this caffeine free herbal blend. Juicy black currants give this tea a burst of berry. Elderberries bring their signature taste to the table too, so if you love them in jellies, jams and pies, you’ll love them here as well.  Rose petals and lavender offer amazing floral aromatics but don’t spend too much time on the tongue.  Mmmm. Breathe deep!

We love all our teas here at Zhi, that is a fact; but it has been awhile since a rooibos blend of this calibur has graced our tea room. While rooibos has a tendency to be nutty and savory, in this blend, we experience this tea as sweeter and more fruity than usual. Sound like your cup of tea?

Our superstar rooibos has been Sweet Desert Delight up until this point, and we wonder: will Rooibos Provence take center stage? Only time will tell. Try some today and let us know!

Monday Mashup! The Geisha’s Kiss

Good day, tea lovers!

Needing a boost in your tea routine?

Let us help you fall in love again with a brand new tea combo.

This Monday Mashup combines two of our favorite organic Zhi Teas: the romantic Cherry Sencha and feminine Jasmine Green.

Take a deep breath…and get ready. You may never be the same.

To make your lovely cup of iced tea, scoop 1 tsp of Cherry Sencha and 1 tsp of Jasmine Green into your Perfect Tea Maker. Then, pour 6 oz of hot water over the dry leaves. Take a big breath and relax. Steep for 3 minutes. Be sure to breathe in the incredible aromatics of this green tea combination.

While its steeping, find a large cup and fill with ice. When the timer goes off, pour another 6 oz of cold water into the tea maker. Dispense your steeped tea into your cup, over the ice. Stir to chill and combine. Take another deep breath…now sigh. Your iced tea is ready to enjoy.

What other kinds of green tea combinations should we try?

Fall in Love with Tea!

Roses are red, Tea cups are blue, Zhi Tea loves organic tea, and we want you to, too!

With over 100 ultra premium artisan teas to choose from, we’re sure as Cupid’s arrow that there is a tea out there for you and everyone you know.

Looking for a life long love affair? Zhi’s pure, unadulterated artisans are designed for every day enjoyment. Looking to flirt with new flavors? Zhi’s hand blended original signatures are made in small batches and range from fruity to floral.

Don’t know what tea to give? Draw inspiration from Valentine’s trifecta: strawberries, roses, and chocolate.

Zhi’s Vanilla Rose has a sweet malty base that is complimented by creamy vanilla and floral roses. This black tea is great on it’s own as it’s inherently silky and sweet, but go ahead and indulge: a splash of almond milk makes it truly decadent. The same can be said of our sexy Cacao Chai. Spicy, complex, with notes of chocolate and espresso, this blend gives one all the bliss and antioxidants of chocolate, but without any calories or sugar!  Rose teas, of course, are truly romantic. If you’re looking for caffeine free teas for your crush, Zhi’s Saigon Rose is caffeine free and our White Rose only has trace amounts.

This Valentine’s Day, fall in love with the leaf.  Truly. Madly. Steeply.

Haute Tea! Fashionably Celebrate National Hot Tea Month

National Hot Tea MonthHow do you take your tea, my dear?

Black? Green? With sugar or honey?

This January, in the height of winter, we’ll take ours hot, with a sigh, a gluten free macaroon, and a steaming tea cup of decadence.

January is National Hot Tea Month. Last year, Dr. Oolong suggested many great ways to Pause, Reflect, Connect over this tea holiday. This year, the girls at Zhi Tea have their own ideas! Lady GABA and the Ginger Peach want to celebrate “Haute Tea Month.”

All January, we’ll be drinking hot tea, reading fashion magazines and gushing over the gourgeousness found on Tea and Fashion’s tumblr account.

In this elevated state of luxury, one wonders why we ever started to ice this drink at all.  Pinkies up!

Ceremony or convenience? Get both with Matcha!

Matcha_Green TeaNeed a healthy boost of energy to help you enjoy the season? Try matcha!

Matcha is a finely pulverized green tea from Japan. This green tea powder has been enjoyed ceremoniously in Japan for almost 1000 years. A staple in Japanese culture and history, matcha was reserved for the royal family, religious dignitaries and the honored Zen Buddhist monks who used matcha to enable their constant meditation.

Today, matcha is finally being enjoyed in the West as studies and experiences are proving it important for wellness and convenience. When one makes a cup of matcha to drink, there is no steeping involved. One is essentially dissolving the tea powder into hot water with a whisk and drinking the instant tea, leaves and all. Consider adding a scoop to your smoothie for a quick antioxidant rich pick-me-up!

Even though it takes only seconds to make a cup to drink, it takes a great deal of time to make the matcha itself. Tea plants typically take 10-15 years to mature. Then, to finely grind the powder, one must go incredibly slow lest the speed of the grinding create heat and oxidize the leaves. It can take up to an hour to grind only 30 grams of matcha!

Truly superior matcha should have brilliant color, superior umami, frothability, and incredible mouthfeel. There should be crema to the very last drop. Rest assured, Zhi’s matcha always has these qualities and is always certified organic.

While many tea companies are offering ‘matcha styled’ green tea, Zhi’s matcha is the real deal: sourced by an independent organic tea company in Japan whose family has been making matcha for three generations. Here’s a video showing just how easy it is to enjoy a shot of matcha today! Do you like matcha?
