Souchong Waishan
Ingredients: 100% Organic black loose tea leaves
People all over the world are familiar with Lapsang Souchong, one of the smokiest teas you'll ever taste. Lapsang essentially translates to "pine-smoked" and Souchong translates to "small leaf variety" known in this part of the Wuyi region of Fujian. For some the smokiness is too intense.
Souchong Waishan is the same "small leaf" variety of tea from TongMu Village, but is pan toasted and not roasted over fire so it yields an aromatic mellow cup with lightly sweet notes of fruit and flowers and just a very light touch of smokiness.
For those who are familiar with its much smokier counterpart, this tea is a delicious suprise.
Water: 208°F | Leaves: 2 tsp per 12 ounce cup | Infusion Time: 3-4 minutes
Basic Steeping Tips
- Use filtered or spring water, whenever possible
- Don’t overboil water
- Remove leaves after recommended time (adjust to taste)
- If you want stronger tea, use more leaves instead of steeping for a longer time.
Leaves can be resteeped 2-3 times resulting in various flavor differences. Don’t throw out those leaves until they have given it all up!
